We Need Your Help! Do you know someone who lives in Loddon who has made a notable contribution to the community? The Parish Council welcomes your nominations for the Freedom of Loddon Award. If you know someone who you think should receive this award, please email your nomination to clerk@loddonpc.org.uk by July 2020.

Please find below a summary of the guidance and information we have received recently relating to the Coronavirus.

For the most up to date Government Guidance, please visit https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Stay at home guidance

The Government has asked that people stay at home to help stop the spread of coronavirus. You may only leave your home to:

  • Shop for basic necessities such as food and medicine, as infrequently as possible
  • Take exercise, such as a run, walk or cycle, but this must be done alone or with members of your household
  • Deal with any medical need, to avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, or to give blood
  • Provide care or to help a vulnerable person
  • Travel to work, but only where you cannot work from home

Stay at home guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection gives you the main government messages whether you live alone or with other people.

When you do leave your home you must observe the two-metre social distancing rule.

Parish Council Facilities
The Staithe Public Conveniences, Skate Park and Play Areas are now closed to prevent the transmission of the virus. Inspections will not be carried out whilst we are in lock-down. The Allotments will be kept open although users must adhere to social distancing. The Tourist Information Office has not re-opened. This is in-line with Government guidance.

Parish Council Office
The Parish Council remains in operation, with staff working remotely.  We can still be contacted at 01508 522 020 on Tuesdays or by emailing clerk@loddonpc.co.uk.

Parish Council Meeting
The Parish Council will continue to meet monthly meetings (remotely) and carry out their business as usual. The meetings are open to the public, and a code will be required to access our ‘GoTo Meeting’. All details are on our Agenda.

Bin Collections

South Norfolk are collecting bins as normal, but they are coming across more waste than usual, as people self isolating take the opportunity to have a clear out. Can we make a plea please not to put all this extra rubbish out in one go, otherwise we may overload the system. If householders can eke this out over a few weeks, we will have more chance of keeping the collections going during the crisis. Thank you for your cooperation and a big thank you to the refuse collection staff, who are continuing to work at this difficult time.

Do You Need Help?
South Norfolk Council has a community ‘Help Hub’ – 0344 8008020 and residents can also visit  www.norfolk.gov.uk/coronavirus. The Help Hub will redirect your request to a local group of volunteers. SNC Help Hub is also to help with financial support for residents and businesses.

Have you Volunteered?
We would like to thank everyone who has contacted the Parish Council offering to assist others. Your emails have been forwarded to Councillor Jeremy Rowe: j.rowe@waveneyvalleyat.co.uk.

Free parking for health workers and community volunteers

Simple parking permits are available for health workers and community volunteers who are helping people across Norfolk. The new permits will allow free parking in all council run car parks, in on-street pay and display bays, and permit parking and time limited waiting bays. However to ensure vital spaces will still remain available, and roads accessible for emergency services, the new rules will not apply to disabled parking bays, loading bays, car club spaces and double yellow lines. https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/care-support-and-health/health-and-wellbeing/adults-health/coronavirus/free-parking-for-health-workers-and-community-volunteers

Could You Make a Donation to Support Local People?
Norfolk Community Foundation, working alongside their partners, has established the Covid-19 Community Response Fund to support local charities working hard on the ground to keep vulnerable people safe and well.  If you are able to support this fund, the link is here: https://www.norfolkfoundation.com/giving-philanthropy/covid19communityresponsefund/

It will also include preparation of end of year accounts, annual budgeting, management of expenditure within budgets and regular reporting to council on all financial matters.

The parish council is seeking someone with book-keeping experience as a minimum but preferably with accounting qualifications and/or local government experience.

The successful candidate will also be required to deputise for the clerk when necessary,  provide administrative assistance to the clerk and to deal with members of the public on a day to day basis. We are therefore seeking a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
