Loddon Parish Council is seeking to appoint a competent and experienced administrative assistant to assist with the day to day tasks of the council and in support of the clerk and finance officer. This is a varied and interesting role within local government requiring excellent communication skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and a good range of skills.
You will be responsible for manning the desk when open to the public, answering the phone and responding to post and email communication. This will require dealing with a range of enquiries relating to all aspects of the council and the wider community so having a good local knowledge and experience dealing with the public will be very beneficial to the role.
Other duties will include assisting in the preparation and printing of agendas, setting up for meetings, ordering goods, responding appropriately to reports of damage or repairs required and a variety of other tasks as required by the clerk to whom you will report.
The post is for 9 hours a week over three days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and is based in the Parish Council Offices in Church Plain, Loddon. Salary is £9.21 per hour, £17,711 pro rata. This position offers the Local Government Pension Scheme and the standard employment terms and conditions agreed nationally for the sector.

Loddon Parish Council is seeking to appoint a motivated, dynamic and forward-thinking individual to the role of parish clerk. This is a varied and interesting role within Local Government requiring excellent communication skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and a broad range of skills.
Responsible for looking after the day-to-day running of the parish council, you will have a proven track record in managing and prioritising a varied workload. As the proper officer of the council you will be responsible for advising the 11 Councillors on all areas of parish council activity including the legal aspects of planning and financial matters. You will also be required to manage a small team of staff.
The successful candidate will be prepared to be the face of the parish council in the community, building relationships with local organisations and outside agencies for the benefit of all. Whilst most of your hours will be office-based during the week, you will need to be flexible to attend events outside of your normal working hours. You will be required to attend the monthly evening meetings and other committee meetings, which you will be responsible for clerking, and being open to the public.
Local Government experience and holding the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) is desirable but not essential. However, the successful candidate will be expected to study and obtain the CiLCA qualification within 18 months of appointment. The professional development of staff is supported and funded by the parish council.
The post is for 15 hours a week over three days and is based in the Parish Council Offices in Church Plain, Loddon. The salary will be paid in accordance with experience and in line with the National Joint Council Salary Scale rates and will range from SCP 24 (£27,905) – SCP 28 (£31,371) pro rata. This position offers the Local Government Pension Scheme and the standard employment terms and conditions agreed nationally.
